GPT is scary, and it's not. It took me almost a year from the first time I tried it in 2022 until around the GPT boom, when I realised that if I don't figure out how to make it part of my daily tools I'll fall from the wheel of progress professionally.

Note: as of 2023-07-25, only gpt 3.5 is free. It's not as good as GPT-4, but it's still lightyears ahead of anything that humanity has ever seen.
